A destination trailer is meant to be set up once and enjoyed for the long haul, which makes the initial setup and a little ongoing care more important than with a unit you tow constantly. Here’s what owners should plan for.
Site and setup
Before delivery, confirm your pad is long and level enough for a 40-foot-plus unit and that you have room to position and level it properly. A stable, well-drained pad protects the frame and makes leveling far easier. Because these units are rarely moved, getting the placement right the first time pays off for years.
50-amp service and utilities
The Sandpiper Destination is built around full hookups. Plan for 50-amp electrical service to run dual 15,000-BTU air conditioners and residential-style appliances without tripping. You’ll also want a reliable water connection for the on-demand tankless water heater and a proper sewer or septic connection sized for extended use. If your site is wired for less, talk to an electrician before delivery.
Winterizing
If your location sees freezing temperatures and you won’t occupy the unit year-round, winterize it. That typically means draining the water system and protecting the plumbing and tankless water heater against freeze damage. The Extended Stay Package, where equipped, helps owners who use the trailer into colder shoulder seasons, but it is not a substitute for proper winterization in a hard freeze.
Routine maintenance
Even a stationary trailer needs attention. Inspect and reseal roof and seam sealants on a regular schedule; the one-piece walk-on roof makes this easier and safer to do. Check the Underbelly Armor and undercarriage for damage, keep slide-out seals clean and lubricated, and service appliances per the manufacturer’s guidance. A stationary unit still suffers from sun, weather, and time, so a seasonal walk-through keeps small issues small.
Warranty mindset
Keep your documentation, register your unit, and stay on top of recommended maintenance, because warranty coverage rewards owners who can show the unit was cared for. Address leaks and seal failures promptly rather than waiting; water intrusion is the most expensive problem a trailer can develop.
